Step 2: Reflect on this research and your practice
After reviewing the guide, reflect on the following questions:
- Read the "Introduction," [PDF] pp. 1-4, and the "Overview—Lesson by Lesson," [PDF] pp. 5-7. What do you think learners need to know about reading? Why might we want to teach learners about the components of reading?
- Review Lesson 4, "The Components of Reading," [PDF] from a learner’s perspective. What did you learn that surprised you?
- Scan through Lessons 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, and 13 [PDF] again, noting key points. How might these lessons work with your learners?
