Adult Multiple Intelligences Theory
Step 3: Focus on an aspect of your practice
Consider the definition of intelligences offered by Howard Gardner proposing that intelligence is “the biological potential to solve problems or make products that are valued in a culture.” (Gardner, 1993, 2000).
- List all of the reasons why you believe this statement, and then make a list of all of the reasons you may doubt this statement.
- Think of examples from your life and your practice to support or contradict each of your believing and doubting statements.
Now that you have listed your beliefs and doubts about multiple intelligences, reflect on the following questions:
- How might you use MI in your instruction?
- What might be the challenges and opportunities for using MI-inspired instruction?
